Кижи = Kizhi = Kishi / avtory knigi: Крохин В.А., Пулькин В.И., Смирнов В.И., Ямщиков С.В. (OCLC #913890757)

RDA 2.3.3.3 on Recording Parallel Titles Proper says “if there is more than one parallel title proper, record the titles in the order indicated by the sequence, layout, or typography of the titles on the source or sources of information.” In ISBD, this is done with equals signs preceding each title proper:

245 00 ǂa Кижи = ǂb Kizhi = Kishi

245ǂa contains only the first title proper; the other two go into 245ǂb, Remainder of title.

Russkai︠a︡ istorii︠a︡ v sravnitelʹno-istoricheskom osveshchenii : osnovy sot︠s︡ialʹnoĭ dinamiki : N. Rozhkov ; [predislovie B. Nevskogo]. (OCLC #9738364)

The title page of this piece says both “том второй” (volume 2)
and “издание третье” (third edition). Does this mean it is volume 2 of the third edition?

An OCLC record for a two-volume set clarifies the situation:

500 __ ǂa T. 1 is 4th ed. and t. 2 is 3rd ed.

East Austin stories [videorecording]. (OCLC #515199419)

In RDA, we can supply the date of publication from any available source. I could not find a date of publication in any of the preferred sources (same source as title proper, or anywhere else in the resource) so emailed the contact person listed on the publisher’s website. He quickly wrote back and supplied me with the information and was delighted to hear that we were adding the video to our collection.

As the date of publication was supplied from a source outside of the resource, I indicated that with square brackets:

264 _1 ǂa [Austin, Texas] : ǂb EastAustinStories.org, ǂc [2005]

The principal navigations, voyages, traffiques & discoveries of the English nation : made by sea or over-land to the remote and farthest distant quarters of the earth at any time within the compasse of these 1600 yeeres / by Richard Hakluyt. (OCLC #6737)

This volume looks fine from the outside, but its text block is upside down! Not really a problem, you just have to flip it over to read it.

We’re barcoding and labeling it as usual, and I wrote the call number on the back of the actual title page (as I also do for books in right-to-left reading languages like Japanese). I mentioned the oddity in a note:

590 __ ǂa Young Library copy of volume 11 bound upside-down.
