This book has a stylized title and statement of responsibility (even in the running title) crediting Boris Vantalov for the words and B. Konstriktor for the drawings. It turns out that these are the pen- and brush-name respectively of the poet/artist B.M. Axelrod, each with an established authorized access point to relate to the record.

RDA 7.15.1.3 on Recording Illustrative Content says to disregard illustrated title pages and other minor illustrations, but what makes an illustration minor? Just drop caps, or little flowers between sections?
This particular book has clip art at the start of each chapter, like a film canister, a movie screen, or a director’s chair, but never anything so substantial as a photo of a director, or a still image from a film. If a patron were using the record to help choose a book (Cutter’s 3rd objective of the catalog), recording that the book has illustrations might mislead them, so I chose to disregard.

I am puzzled by RDA 3.4.5.9 which describes how to record plates, but also says to disregard unnumbered sequences of plates unless (a) they form a substantial part of the resource, or (b) include a plate that is referred to in a note. In practice, I am continuing to see even small numbers (8, 16) of unnoted plates recorded in the extent. Do you still record them?
This book about the subway system in Moscow was about half made up of plates, so I was able to record the “55 unnumbered pages of plates” without worry.

A colleague told me about a workshop she went to long ago called “Russian for Catalogers”. I imagine it sounded like: “A is still A, and E is still E, but H is N, and P is R. Backward N is I and backward R is IA. T is still T, unless it’s cursive, and then lowercase m is t, and g is d. Knowing your Greek letters will help, but only sometimes. Here’s a table. Sorry.”

If the cover of this book of humorous Russian poetry were a Dixit card, what sentence would you use to describe it? The back cover features a small dog peeing on a lamppost, if that helps.
This one showed up on the problem shelf because of series problems: it is volume 1 of a set (which may never have had other volumes) and that set is volume 2 of a series.

This book about “one of the Netherlands’ ‘least known’ famous architects” had only a brief CIP record in OCLC, and even that had the distributor listed as the publisher. An over-narrow search could have missed that one! Now it’s upgraded to a full RDA record.
Another tricky bit on these architecture books is remembering to use the appropriate artist table (e.g. N6) when assigning an LC call number to reproductions/collections of an architect’s work.
Under RDA, Copyright Date is an element separate from Date of Publication and Date of Distribution. When it is recorded in the current MARC standard, it appears in its own 264 field:

Note that this 264 has second indicator 4 (to indicate Copyright Date Notice), the copyright symbol and date appear in subfield c, and that subfield is the only one in this field.
Copyright dates appear in many RDA records, though they are rarely technically required. RDA 2.11 says that Copyright Date is a core element if neither the Date of Publication nor the Date of Distribution is identified. That means, if you have not written anything down for date of publication or distribution, and you have a copyright date available, you must record it as such.
However, LC-PCC PS for RDA 2.8.6.6 includes instructions to supply a publication date using the copyright date when possible, if it makes sense to do so. With the publication date identified, copyright date is no longer core, so need not be recorded!
So why do all of these RDA records have copyright dates in them? I personally feel weird supplying information without indicating why, and the copyright date notice serves as a justifying note. Also, the copyright symbol is more fun to type than c was; snag my macro if you’re having trouble with it.
Even if not core, recording copyright date is allowed, and creates a fuller record. At my library, we have as policy for our RDA original cataloging that we include the copyright date notice when it was used to supply the publication date.

Despite being a bit rare (copy 210 of 250), this book already had pretty good copy in OCLC, so I only needed to assign an LC call number. I probably could have gone a couple of ways with this.
Fully half of the book contains one-page descriptions of people in/from Kherson (Ukraine), with accompanying comics by Tarabanovskiĭ, the artist on the right. However, the largest single section of the book is about the author on the left, Kruchenykh, by whom my library already has a number of works. I classed the book with a Z cutter under Kruchenykh’s class number, where I think it will best serve my library’s patrons. The city and comic artist are accessible by subject headings.
Some churches / Tasha Cotter. (OCLC #868901194)
I anticipated getting to use a 3,2,2,1 or 4,4 search to narrow this one down, because of its short title made of common words, but the phrase “some churches” turned out to not be all that common in the title index (only about 100 records in OCLC, easily scrolled through).
I do expect that one day Tasha Cotter will have the O vs. 0 shelving problem though.

Serial? Series? Analyzed?
This single volume was left on its own serial record. We have a series authority record for that title saying that we analyze the series, so I had to go find copy for each logical volume, and bind their records together too. (woohoo! boundwith!)
Now I just have to deal with the volume we found on the shelf nearby that has the same call number, is not in our catalog, but does not have its own unique title.
